ENcome reports rapid expansion in Australian market as O&M provider

Austrian headquartered ENcome is reporting rapid growth as an independent operations and maintenance (O&M) provider to the Australian utility scale solar market.

With a multi-GW pipeline of PV power plants currently under development, Australia is continuing to attract solar service providers looking for growth. Having entered the market at the end of 2016, ENcome is expanding from providing engineering services, into O&M.

In April 2017, ENcome started its first O&M mandate in Australia – for a 11 MW utility scale solar project in the ACT. In 2018, the company is looking to ramp up its O&M activities and is targeting several hundreds of MW – the company has reported to pv magazine Australia.

Founded in 2012 as a spin off from an Austrian EPC, ENcome has grown its O&M portfolio through the acquisition of a number of European players including kWh+ Solar Service GmbH, SEAG Service GmbH, abakus solar, and the O&M business of Italy’s Enerqos.

For EPCs currently focused on rapidly executing PV power plant pipelines in Australia, tapping an independent O&M provider for completed projects may be advantageous.

ENcome has acted as an independent engineer for around eight projects in Australia to date, for a capacity of roughly 600 MW.

“We have now also initiated first O&M activities and there is certainly a lot more to come,” said ENcome Energy Performance Deutschland Managing Director Burkhard Söhngen.

In December 2017, GTM Research ranked ENcome as Europe’s leading independent solar service provider and number two globally. It provides O&M to a portfolio of more than 1 GW of large scale solar.

Beyond “organic” growth in both Australia and Europe, ENcome is targeting further acquisitions in 2018 as a part of its “Buy&Build” strategy.
